Melanie Rodríguez Vázquez (Guayama, Puerto Rico) earned a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus (2020). She is currently a doctoral candidate specializing in Afro-Caribbean literature and art in the Department of English and has also completed a certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies at Michigan State University. Rodríguez Vázquez serves as the lab manager for Open Boat Lab, which is part of the Diaspora Solidarities Lab, and is a member of the Afro-Latinx Lab.
