Resources

The Citizen Voting-age Population (CVAP) refers to individuals aged 18 and older, who are citizens.

We have resources such as the Citizen Voting-age Population: 2014-2022 Dashboard and our Puerto Rican CVAP in the United States infographic that can be used as a resource to see the potential Puerto Ricans may have as a voting group, based on its share of the citizen, voting-age population as well as to inform voter outreach strategies. Both products are recurrent projects that are released by our Data Hub in response to the release of data by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The Citizen Voting-age Population: 2014-2022 Dashboard that showcases the citizen voting-age population (CVAP) for Puerto Ricans, overall Hispanics, specific Hispanic origins and selected races by state and year from 2014-2022. This tool can be used as a resource to not only see the potential Puerto Ricans may have as a voting group, based on its share of the citizen, voting-age population but also Hispanics and other selected races. The U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (1-year estimates) Public Use Microdata Sample between 2014 and 2022 is the source of data for the dashboard. An update with 2023 and 2024 data will be released shortly.

The Puerto Rican CVAP in the United States infographic provides selected socio-demographic information about the Puerto Rican citizen voting-age population (CVAP) for the United States as well selected voting/registration rates using the U.S. Census Bureau's Current Population Survey, Voting Supplement (November 2024).
