Cost: Free

Virtual Event

November 19 @ 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm EST

In preparation for our upcoming symposium, “A Decade of PROMESA: Accountability, Good Governance, and Puerto Rico’s Future,” CENTRO will be offering a free virtual session to learn about PROMESA (the Puerto Rican Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act), the context it was enacted in 2016, and the major features of its creation: the Financial Oversight and Management Board for Puerto Rico (La Junta).

This information session will feature Alvin Velazquez, Associate Professor of Law at Indiana University Bloomington and Mariely López-Santana, Associate Professor at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. Come prepared to ask questions about what PROMESA is, why it was enacted, who it impacts, and what its brief but consequential history has been.

This conversation is moderated by CENTRO’s Director of Public Policy, External and Media Relations and Development, Carlos Vargas-Ramos, Ph.D.
