Gabriel Ramos draws profound inspiration from his identity as a Puerto Rican LGBTQ+ individual residing in the USA. His work explores intricate themes of identity, social visibility, sexuality, queerness, fear, and displacement. Ramos' compositions seamlessly weave Caribbean motifs, architectural elements, figures, stylized representations, and personal symbols, inviting viewers to delve into layered personal narratives that reflect the complexities of life's challenges and resolutions as a queer Latino living in the United States.

Gabriel Ramos, born in 1987 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, holds a BFA in Photography from the University of South Florida and an MFA from Cornell University. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the National Galleries of the Bahamas and Jamaica, the USF Contemporary Art Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg, the Sarasota Art Museum, and the FotoFest Biennial. Ramos has been awarded the Creative Pinellas Professional Artist Grant, the Cornell Council for the Arts Grant, the Vermont Studio Center Creative Equity Fellowship, and the Ox-Bow School of Art MFA Residency, among other notable grants and residencies. He currently lives and works in Tampa, FL.
