Dr. Isabel Guzzardo Tamargo

Isabel Guzzardo Tamargo is an Assistant Professor of Literatures of the Americas in the English Department at Seton Hall University. She holds a PhD from the English Department at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, where she specialized in Caribbean literature. Much of her work explores representations of maroons in contemporary queer Jamaican, Puerto Rican, and Dominican literature. She has published peer-reviewed articles and reviews in The Journal of Disaster Studies, Avery Review, Small Axe Salon, Confluencia, The University of the West Indies’ Social and Economic Studies, and others. She is co-editor of the book Post-Disaster Futures: Ruin, Repair and Decolonial Imagination in Puerto Rico (2026) published with Haymarket Books. She is also a principal collaborator of the Puerto Rico Syllabus.
