Join CENTRO (Center for Puerto Rican Studies) librarians and archivists in conversation with groundbreaking Bronx-born cartoonist, genre pioneer, and educator Ivan Velez Jr. as they discuss his life and career, and highlight Tales of the Closet, the poignant, funny, melodramatic, gritty and sad, Xeric award-winning series. Created in 1986 as one of the first interventions for LGBTQ+ youth facing the AIDS crisis, this work remains a cornerstone of Puerto Rican and Queer narrative history.
