Work-Study Opportunities available now at CENTRO for Hunter College Students
The hourly rate for these opportunities will be $15 for working 10 hr to 20 hr per week.
1– Job Title: Clerical Aides Location: East 1429
Job Description: General office work: filing, covering the reception desk, making copies, preparing mailings, assisting staff with supply requests, and, when required, assisting the Centro events coordinator. Spanish language capability preferred.
Job Requirements: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus. Must be able to multitask effectively and be creative in finding solutions to tasks.

2- Job Title: Library & Archives Aides Location: Centro Library and Archives Rm 122 Silberman Building
Job Description: can be assigned to one or more of the following duties):
a) Works as reference assistant helping researchers, staff, and students locate digital and print resources and responding to inquiries from patrons both in person and online.
b) Works with Centro archivists in preparing archival documents and records for inclusion into the Archives.
c) Works on document digitization projects and learns proper procedures and practices for digital archiving.
Job Requirements: Willingness to learn new skills associated with library and archives projects. Ability to be detail-oriented and methodical in work habits. Interest in learning new library and archives software.

3- Job Title: Research Assistants Location: Centro Researchers at their 8th Fl Silberman offices and/or East 1432.
Job Description: Research Assistants can be assigned to one or more of the following duties:
a) Assist in academic research: preparing bibliographies, finding material in databases, and organizing archival sources.
b) Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publications: proofreading, editing, and organization of sources.
c) Assist in performing additional research and administrative services.
d) When necessary, assist with additional special projects as assigned
Job Requirements: Knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, etc.). Strong organization and time-management skills; attention to detail are essential. Ability to follow written and oral policies and procedures. Interest in Puerto Rican and/or Latino Studies is desirable. Working knowledge of Spanish is desirable.

4- Job Title: Social Media/Web Aides Location: East 1401
Job Description: Works with Centro social media and web team in developing a social media strategy and creating original content for various platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok). Assists in developing web page designs and promotional materials for CENTRO events and initiatives.
Job Requirements: Intermediate to advanced level experience in working with social media platforms. Knowledge of platforms and programs such as WordPress and Canva is a plus. Good to excellent communications skills and being an effective and reliable team member is a must. Interest in learning new digital tools and staying up to date on digital trends.

5- Job Title: Special Projects Aides Location: East 1401
Job Description:
a) Works with Arts & Culture Director as member of staff team implementing area projects: publishing newsletter, creating multimedia projects, and organizing exhibits.
b) Works with Centro publications manager on developing print and online publications including multimedia essays.
Job Requirements: background experiences in print and visual and event planning are desirable. Good to excellent communications skills and being an effective and reliable team member is a must.
