Echoes of East Harlem: A Workshop on Memory & Older Adults

Location: CENTRO en El Barrio

Cost: Free

April 26, 2025 @ 3:00 pm 5:00 pm EDT

How long have you lived in East Harlem? If you’ve lived here long enough, you must have seen the neighborhood change. Help CENTRO tell the story of Puerto Ricans in El Barrio using your lived experiences with our workshop, Echos of East Harlem: A Workshop on Memory & Older Adults. This gathering of elders aims to use your knowledge and lived experience in El Barrio to tell the story of the transformation of this neighborhood. During this event, participants will help in crowdsourcing valuable information from CENTRO’s extensive digital collections. This collaborative effort aims to identify historical figures, landmarks, and significant places captured in photographs, documents, and other archival materials.

The elders of our community are custodians of our history, and through their voices and memories, the rich tapestry of East Harlem comes alive.
