Luis M. Falcón, was named dean of the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in 2012. He received B.A. and M.S degrees from the University of Puerto Rico and a Ph.D. in Sociology from Cornell University in 1987.

Prior to joining UMass Lowell, Falcón was a member of the faculty at Northeastern University where he, most recently, served as vice-provost for graduate education (2004-2011). Prior to that, he served as associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (2002-2004) and as chair of the department of Sociology and Anthropology (2000-2002).


Heyda Martinez, was born in San Juan Puerto Rico and has been living in Western Massachusetts for almost 30 years. She received a B. S. with a major in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus, and a M. S. degree in Clinical Psychology from the Centro Psicológico de Estudios Post-Graduados in Hato Rey, PR, now Carlos Albizu University. Dr. Martinez has a doctoral degree in Education with a concentration in Social Justice Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. During her coursework at UMASS Dr. Martinez continued to pursue minors in Multicultural Counseling and Systems in Family Therapy and her research work focused on Poor Latina Migrant Women and Issues of Mental Health.

Virmarit Davila Sanchez, Ph.D, LMHC, Doctorate in Philosophy, concentration in Clinical Psychology acquired in 2006

Working in the Mental Health field in MA since 2005

Licensed Mental Health Counselor in MA since 2009

Born in Aibonito, PR, raised in Bayamon, PR. All my education was in PR 1992 HS graduate from Colegio Santa Rosa in Bayamon, BA in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras 1996.
