Through painting, drawing, and mixed media, I capture the beauty and resilience of my community—stories told in color, texture, and gesture. New York taught me to find beauty in contrasts: the hustle and struggle alongside joy and celebration. Puerto Rico taught me to honor my roots, value connection, and carry tradition forward.
Each piece I create is both a personal journey and a shared narrative, a bridge between past and present. My art is a tribute to my family, my people, and the generations who kept our culture alive in the city that never sleeps. I believe my art is a Gift from God - who am I to waste it? I hope it invites others to feel the pride, strength, and love that come from living between two homes.

Nelson Host Santiago is a Puerto Rican visual artist whose work blends narrative painting, cultural memory, and urban vibrancy. Born and raised in New York City, Santiago’s art reflects the dual identity of life between the island and the mainland, weaving together the textures, colors, and stories of both worlds. His paintings often center on themes of migration, resilience, and community, drawing inspiration from oral histories, historical archives, and his own lived experience.
With a background in large-scale painting and community-based projects, Santiago has developed a practice that is as much about cultural preservation as it is about artistic expression. His work has been exhibited in local galleries, cultural centers, and public spaces, engaging audiences through storytelling and visual immersion.
Beyond the canvas, Santiago is committed to making art accessible, leading workshops and public programs that invite people of all ages to share and celebrate their heritage. Through his projects, he aims to honor the past, amplify underrepresented narratives, and create spaces where art becomes a catalyst for connection, dialogue, and pride.
