"My Piedra y Sombra series is double exposure film photographs taken in color. This was taken in New Paltz, NY before I moved to the area, as I started intentionally making double exposures to recreated large undisturbed panoramas that depict new chronologies. These are apple trees, as are commonly seen in farms in the Ulster County, area."- Melanie Gonzalez

"Commissioned by Mark Ugbomah for this album: "Distinguishing Gray". This scene was inspired by the concept of straightening hair in Caribbean cultures as the sign of social status, and an affliction to beauty standards that are not natural to most Dominican or Puerto Rican woman. My photographic commentary in this scene is the assembly line of blown out hair dos, the irony by a woman with natural hair herself. Will she succumb too?" - Melanie Gonzalez
