As a diasporic Puerto Rican-Mexican American artist working in oil and acrylic, I explore identity, matriarchy, and the resilience of women through bold color and surreal natural elements. Merging expressive portraiture with nature-based symbolism, I weave personal and ancestral narratives that highlight intergenerational wisdom, cultural preservation, and ecofeminism. Deeply rooted in my heritage, my work reflects the role of women as caretakers of tradition, memory, and community.

Cha Gutiérrez is a Phoenix, AZ based visual artist. Primarily a figurative painter, she blends expressive & colorful portraiture with nature, dream-like imagery and personal narratives. She is inspired by the strength and beauty of her subjects, focusing on women’s stories of vulnerability and persistence.
Cha has been painting for over 15 years. She studied fine art at both the School of Visual Arts in New York, and Arizona State University. In 2023, she premiered her first solo exhibition, “Inheritance”, which explored the multifaceted connections that bind us to our past, culture and the shared experiences of women of color.
