Mell Rivera Díaz is a scholar, poet, and musician whose work inhabits the intersection of Puerto Rican Studies, Black Studies, and Diaspora Studies, exploring poetry, music, and the cultural politics of race. He holds a Ph.D. in Spanish & Portuguese from the University of California, Irvine, where his research focused on the ideology of mestizaje from the early 20th century to the present, with a particular emphasis on Puerto Rican poetry across Spanish, English, and Spanglish. Their academic writing has appeared in Diálogos and Liminalities. Mell is the author of de ir sé que vine (Editora Educación Emergente, 2022).
