Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Andres completed a PhD in Anthropology at New York University. His work focuses on the labor of Puerto Rican and other Latinx workers within creative industries, centering cultural production and popular representation in media forms as diverse as film, television, comic books, and video games. Outside academia, Andres offers Spanish translation services for indie comics creators and does sensitivity reading for game designers (particularly Dungeons & Dragons, one of his favorite hobbies).
