La Meriendita: Call Me Roberto
Location: East Harlem Tutorial Program
Cost: Free
November 12 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm EST
Join CENTRO in East Harlem for La Meriendita, a story hour dedicated to children’s books! This month’s Meriendita is Call Me Roberto, written by Nathalie Alonso and illustrated by Rudy Gutierrez.
Roberto Clemente always loved baseball. Growing up in Carolina, Puerto Rico, he swung tree branches (since he didn’t have a bat) and hit tin cans. He was always batting, pitching, running, sliding. His dedication paid off when, at the age of 19, he was tapped for a major league team.
An inspirational story of Major League Baseball player Roberto Clemente—not Bob—who endured years of racism and discrimination to become one of the greatest baseball players of all time.
Bring your little ones by for snacks and a story that celebrates food, family, and working together!
This event is presented in collaboration with the East Harlem Tutorial Program
