CENTRO x The Nuyorican Poets Cafe

Location: CENTRO en El Barrio

Cost: Free

April 10 @ 6:00 pm 9:00 pm EDT

April is poetry month, so celebrate in style with The Nuyorican Poets Cafe at CENTRO. Join us for an evening of spoken word and connect with your favorite poets in the heart of El Barrio. Attendees will have an opportunity to recite some poetry, meet new poets, check out the CENTRO archival poetry collection, enjoy delicious fritura, and more! The Nuyorican Poets Cafe is an iconic institution of and for the Puerto Rican Diaspora in New York City, and a part of the larger cultural landscape that makes this city great. CENTRO is proud to support our partner while they renovate their space in Loisaida. We are stewards of the legacy of prominent Nuyorican poets like Pedro Pietri, Miguel Algarin, Tato Laviera, and more! This event pays homage to the Nuyorican Poets Cafe’s roots while looking forward to a promising future in a new home in the Lower East Side.
