Dr. Katherine Morales is a Puerto Rican researcher and professor based in NYC, focusing on language, identity, and beliefs in U.S. multicultural contexts. Before joining CENTRO, she was full-time faculty at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Her ethnographic work explores how identity and cultural attitudes shape language learning in Puerto Rico. She has published on bilingualism and English in top venues, including a special issue of the International Journal of the Sociology of Language, and chapters with Routledge and Springer. Her forthcoming book, based on fieldwork with Puerto Rican youth, is supported by a National Endowment for the Humanities Faculty Award.
