The Education Unit develops educational programming, events, exhibitions, and educational materials surrounding the primary resource materials and publications focused on the Puerto Rican Diaspora within the CENTRO library and archives. Our core objective is to reach critically engaged and responsive educators as we deliver Diasporican and Puerto Rican Studies to classrooms nationwide. We work to guide today's educators towards student-centered methods while addressing the void in Puerto Rican Studies in the US curriculum. Therefore, we address contemporary topics that address the educator and student’s needs. We aim to present key contributions of the Puerto Rican diaspora collectives and individuals historically overlooked in primary research among the current issues addressed. Some of our problems pertain to categories such as Puerto Ricans in the diaspora, AfroRicans, community building, gender, queer, disabilities, aging, leadership, language, migration, and climate change in both home countries.
