Centro de Estudios Puertorriqueños/Center for Puerto Rican Studies
Centro is the only university-based research institute in the United States devoted to the interdisciplinary study of the Puerto Rican experience. Founded in 1973 by a coalition of faculty, students and community leaders, Centro is housed at Hunter College in Manhattan and is a research center of the City University of New York.

The mission of the Centro archives is to identify, collect, preserve and make accessible information sources that document the Puerto Rican experience. The library houses a comprehensive collection of books, periodicals, microform, and audio-visual materials in all areas of Puerto Rican studies. Centro's archival holdings include about 90 archival collections including the records of major institutions and community organizations, such as the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, ASPIRA, and the United Bronx Parents Association, and the papers from elected officials, community activists, labor leaders, intellectuals, and artists.
