Public Policy Research Assistant

Start Date: Available immediately         Closing Date: Open until filled

Status: Part-Time (20 hrs./week)

Salary range:  $20-25/hr (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

About the Position:

Centro is looking for a Public Policy Research Assistant to complement its current research
capacity. The Public Policy Research Assistant will assist Centro’s Director of Public Policy with
the research and dissemination of findings regarding public policy issues affecting the Puerto
Rican community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use both qualitative and quantitative methods in the conduct of research pertaining to public policy issues
  • Assist in the drafting of reports and briefs, journal articles, press releases, opinion-editorials and action-alerts
  • Provide research assistance and support on projects prepared by other staff
  • Support and perform other policy-related duties as assigned by the Director of Public
  • Policy

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences is required

Preferred Qualifications: Finalists should meet a majority of the following qualifications

  • Familiarity with aggregate and survey data and data analysis
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar software
  • Familiarity with Python, Stata, R, and/or SPSS, preferred
  • Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously
