Roundtable Discussion with the Puerto Rican Diaspora

Friday, April 25
5 to 8 pm
Hunter College Silberman Building
Centro Library & Archives
2180 Third Avenue and 119th Street, East Harlem

The New York Regional Office of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration (PRFAA), the Creative Network of the Puerto Rican Diaspora and Centro invite you to a roundtable discussion with members of the diaspora.

The gathering is part of a series of talks the Commission for the Development of Culture (CODECU) is holding on the island as well as stateside. Puerto Rico Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla established the commission in 2013 to examine ways of stimulating the production of culture. CODECU implemented a comprehensive and participatory process that takes into consideration the opinions of the participants.

The event, which is open to the public, will include brief presentations from cultural leaders, roundtable discussion and plenary session. Registration begins at 4 pm.

The commission will submit a final report to the island’s governor with recommendations on cultural public policy on or before December 15, 2014. This is a unique opportunity to share your thoughts, priorities and plans as a community member.

This event will be live streamed on the Centro’s website /tv. Those interested in joining the roundtable online should email PRFAA at btorres@prfaa.pr.gov to get a survey and guiding questions.
