Correspondence to the Hon. Charles Renfrew from Robert Garcia and Members of Congress

Robert Garcia Papers, 1976-1994

Correspondence to the Hon. Charles Renfrew, Deputy Attorney General, from Robert Garcia and Members of Congress, discussing the re-trial of the case of the Hanigan brothers, who were two brothers that were accused of robbing and murdering three Mexican migrant workers, Manuel Garcia-Loya, Bernabe Herrera-Mata and Eleazar Ruelas-Zavala, in 1976. In 1982,  Patrick Hanigan was convicted and his brother Thomas was acquitted.

The Jose Sinohui case was when Sinohui was murdered by a police officer in 1977, and the officer was acquitted of the charge. Garcia was advocating for civil rights justice for his murder as well.
