Political Protests in Support of Farm Workers' Labor Rights

Carlos Ortiz Papers, 1940s-2006

Activists at a meeting, with a quote by Fidel Castro in Spanish behind them that reads "Frente a la estrategia imperialista de division, es necesaria la union mas resuelta" ("Faced with the imperialist strategy of division, the most resolute union is necessary"). The signs feature the labor activist Edward Sadlowski, the boycotting of grapes in support of farmworkers' rights, and the farmworkers' march on Gallo, which was a March 1975 march of 10,000 people from San Francisco to Gallo Winery in Modesto, California in support of the United Farm Workers.
