Anita Vélez Mitchell Papers, 1950s-2013

Around 1952 Anita Vélez Mitchell comissioned Tito Puente to write a mambo (Macoco) and a choreography by Herbert Ross for her second dance group Anita Velez Carib Dancers. They made their debut in the Caribe Hilton Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Later they traveled to Santo Domingo, Cuba, Venezuela, Panama and Mexico.   Publicity photo: Bruno of Hollywood, NYC.
