Interview with Ruth Laviera Sanchez on January 20, 2016, Segment 9

CENTRO: 100 Puerto Ricans Oral History Project, 2013-

Laviera Sanchez talks about her first jobs as a beautician which included working in two beauty parlors and working at her house during the weekends. She explains that during the night she attended Orchid Beauty School, located in East Harlem, in order to renew her license as a beautician. Laviera Sanchez describes that when customers went to her house all the family would get involved: her mother would cook for them while her brother and children entertained them with dances and music.
