Interview with Juan Sanchez on Dec 14, 2015, Segment 7, Part 1

CENTRO: 100 Puerto Ricans Oral History Project, 2013-

Sanchez discusses his perceptions about being a Puerto Rican from the island and a Puerto Rican from the mainland. The main distinction that he finds is that Puerto Ricans on the mainland are part of a minority, whereas on the island they are the majority. He asserts that being a minority brings issues of self-identity, having to deal with stereotypes created around Latinos, and the necessity of trying to be part of the majority in order to survive.
