Interview with Juan Sanchez on Dec 21, 2015, Segment 5

CENTRO: 100 Puerto Ricans Oral History Project, 2013-

Sanchez talks about his relationship with Clemente Soto Velez whom he met during poets gatherings that Soto Velez held at his apartment in New York. Through Soto Velez, Sanchez also came in contact with Juan Antonio Corretjer, who was leading the Puerto Rican Socialist League. The artist continues talking about the literature work that was being done at El Museo del Barrio such as the translations made by the poet Jack Agüeros of Julia de Burgos’ writings.
