Carlos Ortiz Papers, 1940s-2006

Photograph by Carlos Ortiz of the Hostos Community College (CUNY) demonstrations to save the South Bronx community college from closing in 1976. The activists are holding up the Puerto Rican flag. There was a 20-day takeover and protest that successfully saved the closing of the community college, which was in danger due to New York's financial crisis at the time.
