Antonia Pantoja Papers, 1923-2002

In 1969, Luis A. Ferré became Governor of Puerto Rico and, as part of its national fudning campaign, ASPIRA organized a major dinner to welcome the governor to New York’s Puerto Rican community.The success of this activity enabled ASPIRA to gain significant financial support. By 1972, ASPIRA was able to raise sufficient funds in the private sector to sustain basic operations in all affiliates. Source: Centro Journal, vol. XXI, núm. 2, 2009, pp. 44-45
