Interview with Josephine Mercado on April 28 2016, Segment 14

CENTRO: 100 Puerto Ricans Oral History Project, 2013-

Mercado discusses how she felt Puerto Rican all her life but could not imagine why, since she had never been to Puerto Rico (she was 28 the first time that she visited the island). She also talks about the influence of a Puerto Rican studies professor at City College who showed her that she was Puerto Rican because of how she identified herself.
