The Puerto Rico Theater

Justo A. Martí Photographic Collection, 1948-1985

The Puerto Rico Theater, at the corner of East 138th Street, announcing performance by Puerto Rican singer and songwriter Bobby Capo, a Venezuelan orchestra conductor and his orchestra, and a recitation of Afrocaribbean poetry by Juan Boria, among other artists scheduled to perform. Patrons were standing in front of the theater, on the corner of East 138th Street, across from a local pharmacy. Written on back of photograph: "Foto desde Brook Ave. del Teatro Puerto Rico donde se puede ver los diferentes artistas que actuaban en los 40's." ("Photo from Brook Ave. of Puerto Rico Theater where one can see the different artists that performed in the 1940s.")
