Question asked: Can you tell me about the events you were a part of as a Young Lord? In this clip of the Luis Garden Acosta interview recorded on June 18, 2015 he describes an event where the Young Lords Party lead ten thousand people to the United Nations to demand Puerto Rico's independence by demanding it gets put onto the decolonization list. Garden Acosta also shares the story of when the Young Lords took over the front of the Puerto Rican Day parade, to which he asserts he was not in agreement with. He states that Richie Perez was also not in agreement with the decision. He also recounts the details pertaining to the event and tells us that the police set up the Young Lords, by infiltrating and ruining their plans. At the end Young Lords Party members were arrested.
