CENTRO: 100 Puerto Ricans Oral History Project, 2013-
This clip of the Luis Garden Acosta Oral History project talks about the culture of El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice. Garden Acosta starts the interview by telling us about the mural you see when you walk into the Academy. He says the mural has a quote by the founding principal of the Academy, Frances Lucerna. Lucerna tells every freshman on their first day: "You don't come to study history, you come to make history". He also shares that the youth at El Puente understand that they have to be activists and agents for social justice.
