Cristina Pacione-Zayas shares stories from childhood and adolescent experiences that inform her commitment to community organization and early education. The child of community organizers, veterans in Boys and Girls Club Chicago, she grew up in a household that privileged working with others and pursuing education. She talks about her parents’ migration from Puerto Rico to Chicago and her experiences as a high school and college student. She also explains how she became the co-chair of the organization The Puerto Rican Agenda, which are the main purposes and challenges of this institution and its impact in the leadership of the Puerto Rican population.
