About Voices
Voices is the electronic magazine of the Center for Puerto Rican Studies. Puerto Rican community is widely dispersed and interactions among academics and between academics and our community and the general public are sporadic. Currently there are few outlets to structure such interactions. Centro is providing Voices as web-based platform to disseminate scholarly contributions about the Puerto Rican experiences/realities in the United States to a general public.
Because of its asynchronous nature Voices will not have deadlines. The magazine will be updated and expanded at any time. Over time, we expect the site to evolve as an online Puerto Rican studies encyclopedia following the Wikipedia model where content is added by editors and members. Since we operate in a regulated university environment, we need to filter content respecting freedom of opinions, restricting offensive language, blocking partisan political or commercial content.
