CENTRO publications focus on the Puerto Rican experience but also engage cross-cultural perspectives. The numerous books and monographs published over the course of almost 33 years have responded to the Center's assessment of research priorities. Especially in the early years, when the mainstream press demonstrated little inclination to publish works on Puerto Ricans, the CENTRO filled a serious void by putting out path-breaking studies. As research interests have changed, and individual scholars have emphasized particular areas of inquiry, the publications have continued to reflect CENTRO concerns. In recent years the emphasis has increasingly been on analyses that compare Puerto Ricans with other racialized minorities.
Rising production costs have forced us to limit the CENTRO's publications program while assuring a regular schedule for our two primary publications: Centro News and Centro: Journal Of The Center For Puerto Rican Studies. At the end of each semester our free newsletter, Centro News, informs readers of our most recent activities. Twice a year, we also produce Centro: Journal Of The Center For Puerto Rican Studies, a peer-reviewed publication that presents current scholarship in the field as well as other works of interests.
Periodically, the CENTRO also publishes books and anthologies. Most recently these have included Pioneros Puerto Ricans in New York City 1896-1948 . The CENTRO has also moved into the realm of computer-based technology with its first CD-Rom, Puerto Ricans in the USA, 1898-1999. All materials are available for purchase directly from the CENTRO.
