Understanding the changing social reality in order to improve the lives of the Puerto Rican community.
Our activities include:
• Puerto Rican Research and Policy Initiatives—promoting partnerships and working groups linking academics to policy makers to improve the social economic conditions of our population.
• Economic Opportunity—researching low-wage jobs and workforce development, career advancement of professionals, and asset building.
• The Education Pipeline—examining exemplary programs addressing teachers’ preparation and recommending strategies for improving the recruitment of Latino teachers.
• Political Participation—researching how identity (racial and ethnic) and migration affect Puerto Rican political participation; and a study of logical legislative priorities.
